APHA 139th Annual Meeting and Exposition

  • According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, newborn screening is one of the 10 most important public health achievements of the 21st century. Immersed in the wide array of public health topics, newborn screening will be highlighted in the 139th American Public Health Association (APHA) Annual Meeting and Exposition held at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC from October 29 - November 2.

The APHA is the nation’s leading organization of public health professionals dedicated to the improvement of public health.  Founded in 1872, the APHA works to protect Americans from preventable, and often times severe, health concerns. Their annual gathering is the oldest and largest of its kind, drawing more than 13,000 domestic and international health professionals from a variety of fields, such as genomics and physical activity.  The APHA’s meeting promotes discussion on current and developing health science, policy, and the implementation of health practices to further the prevention of disease and encourage good health.

Newborn screening and immunization will be highlighted from 2:30 – 4:30pm on Tuesday, November 1st in a discussion led by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau.  Additional maternal and child health programs, as well as all other public health-related topics, can be viewed on the APHA event page.

Baby’s First Test will have a booth at this year’s annual meeting.  Explore our online newborn screening resource and get answers to any newborn screening question you might have! Our booth number is 2091. Come check us out!
